Despite being nominated for an award, Taylor Swift wasn’t present at the 2022 Grammys, and fans think they know why.
The singer’s album Evermore was up for the Album Of The Year award, which the 32-year-old singer won in 2021 for her album Folklore. And yet, fans noticed that while Taylor had a chance to defend her title at the Las Vegas ceremony last night [3 April], she wasn’t there.
“Waiting for Taylor Swift to show up to the Grammys #GRAMMYs #TaylorSwift #Grammys2022,” one fan wrote with a broken heart emoji. Someone else put, “Taylor Swift and I are alike, we both skipped the Grammys.”
So, why wasn’t Taylor at the ceremony? To be honest, it’s not that clear. There’s speculation that she didn’t want to make a huge deal over her one nomination. Others said that as the show was in Las Vegas, perhaps she didn’t want to take a flight or was attempting to keep things low-key.
Fans also pointed out the singer was also present at an Oscars after party next weekend alongside boyfriend Joe Alwyn, so maybe she feels a bit burned out from the celebrations. In the end, American singer Jon Baptiste won the award, beating Justine Bieber, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, HER, Lil Nas and Billie Eilish to Best Album.
