Everton have decided to put Allan up for sale in the summer as they prepare for a midfield evolution ahead of the 2022-23 season, a report has revealed.
Allan has been an Everton player since 2020, when Carlo Ancelotti brought him from Napoli. He made 26 appearances under the Italian tactician after their reunion in his debut season. It ended with Everton finishing 10th in the Premier League.
Things have been much tougher for the club in …-Ancelotti era this term, though. Their poor form led to the dismissal of Rafael Benitez after just over half a year in charge. Now it is up to Frank Lampard to revive their fortunes.
Despite the changes, though, Everton are still in danger of relegation. After a defeat to West Ham on Sunday, Lampard’s side are hovering one place above the drop zone with 10 games to go.
By the end of the season, whichever division they are in, Everton will need to make changes to their squad. It has been predicted that there will be further evolution in their midfield.
Within that, Allan could be told to find a new club, as reported by The Sun.
But they will not be making any plans to renew his deal after a disappointing season.
Allan and Alli at risk for Everton
This time around, Allan has matched last term’s tally of 26 appearances, although he was not involved against West Ham. He also has three assists, compared to none last year. But his overall influence has not been great enough to convince.
Therefore, with Everton looking to cut costs, Allan could be sacrificed. Even winter signing Alli could be at risk too, the report adds (as TEAMtalk previously revealed in an exclusive).
It would be an interesting route for the Brazil international to consider. How much Everton could gain from the transfer – or are even hoping to – remains to be seen.
Their plans will become more clear when their status in the Premier League – or not – is decided.
