Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is being linked with a shock move for two Premier League stars as doubts grow over the futures of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, while Friday’s Euro Paper Talk claims that Barcelona are chasing a key Tottenham man.
TWO SHOCK NAMES ON LIVERPOOL RADAR
With Jurgen Klopp reportedly ‘sick’ of continuing doubts over the future of Sadio Mane and, to a lesser extent, Mo Salah, reports on Friday suggest that two surprise Premier League names could be Anfield bound.
The Daily Mirror claims that the Reds boss is weighing up potential moves for Marcus Rashford and Gabriel Martinelli.
United and England forward Rashford has seen his form dip alarmingly this season. To that end, he has really struggled to earn regular starts and is said to be chasing an Old Trafford exit.
Barcelona have already been linked with the forward, who Klopp has previously praised. Meanwhile, Martinelli could also be a shock arrival on Merseyside.
The Gunners attacker, who would be a like-for-like positional swap for Mane, was excellent for Arsenal despite them going down to a 2-0 home defeat to the Reds on Wednesday evening.
The 20-year-old Brazilian has been praised by Klopp on numerous occasions. Indeed, the German labelled him as “talent of the century” in 2019, and an “outstanding player” earlier this season.
Liverpool moves appear unlikely
And Martinelli did not deserve to be on the losing side at the Emirates earlier this week.
Moves for Rashford and Martinelli do appear to be a bit fanciful, however. The likelihood of United allowing one of their top players to join Liverpool is very small.
As for Martinelli, Mikel Arteta is building a new team in north London and he sees the winger as a big part of that.
Add in the fact that the Gunners could also lose Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah on free transfers this summer, and a deal for Martinelli to move to Merseyside looks like a complete none-goer.
