After Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti closed the exit door on Kalidou Koulibaly and ruled out the signing of Miralem Pjanic, ‘Sport’ reports that the ‘Azzurri’ are willing to take the midfielder in exchange for a lower price for the central defender.
Ever since they saw him in the Europa League, Barcelona scouts have been looking at Kalidou Koulibaly’s defensive profile as a possible addition for next season. This has led the club to consider a swap deal with Napoli for Miralem Pjanic, although ‘Azzurri’ coach Luciano Spalletti refused to do so at a press conference.
The defender’s agent, who is also the midfielder’s agent, has already said that there are still no talks for this operation to take place, but that doesn’t mean that the Catalan giants are not working to make it happen. ‘Sport’ assures that he is the objective of the ‘Cules’, who know that the Bosnian is liked by the Italian club.
The newspaper calculates that, with this move, the defender could leave for around 35 million euros, a very affordable figure considering the level of the professional. The problem is that their president is Aurelio de Laurentiis and he is quite tough negotiator.
Koulibaly is one of the priorities for Barcelona because it is an opportunity to sign a top level defender for not too high a price. As his contract with Napoli expires in 2023 and, for the moment, he refuses to renew, the Catalans are hopeful of signing him, so they are going to try.
