Ballon d’ Or: Aguero names players who deserve to win award this year

Manchester City legend, Sergio Aguero, has named Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema as the player who deserves to win the 2022 Ballon d’Or.

Aguero believes Benzema deserves to win the Ballon d’Or irrespective of the outcome of his side’s Champions League final against Liverpool on May 28 in Paris.

Benzema is one of the front-runners to win the Ballon d’ Or this year.

The France international is expected to battle Liverpool duo, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for the award,

Benzema helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side to win the La Liga title, ending the season as the league’s top goalscorer with 27 goals and the second-highest assist provider with 12 assists.

When asked if Benzema deserved to win the Ballon d’Or, Aguero claimed that the striker’s performances this season have warranted his claim to the trophy.

Aguero told Stake, “For his performance this season, yes. Beyond whatever happens in the final, Benzema deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.”
